History was made Sunday night -- not only by first-time winner Leonardo DiCaprio, but around the world as his fans and supporters tweeted the heck out of the actor's newly acquired statue.

When DiCaprio took the stage to accept the award for Best Actor, his long-awaited
win generated 440,000 Tweets per minute, an all-time high during any Oscars telecast. That's almost double the Tweets generated by this selfie in 2014.
