When NFL star Le'Veon Bell was arrested for marijuana possession and driving under the influence in August 2014, he reportedly greeted officers with a classic roadside defense: "I smoked two hours ago. I'm not high anymore. I'm perfectly fine."

Now, on 4/20, the holiest of high holidays, Bell says the NFL hit him with a "random" drug test.

But April 20 -- as it's known in the civilian world -- carries its own significance on the NFL calendar. According to Pro Football Talk, it's "the first day on which the NFL can implement annual drug tests under the substance-abuse policy."

Which all leads up to this tweet Bell posted the morning of 4/20.

QUITE A COINCIDENCE, don't you think?

But when a fan replied, "Please let this man pass," Bell indicated that doing so should be no problem.

There's also a major silver lining for Bell. According to Pro Football Talk, the NFL's drug testing policy today offers plenty of freedom after a player provides a free sample.

The process allows for players to smoke marijuana, as long as they stop in the middle of March or thereabouts and then refrain from it until after providing the sample. Which makes it very easy to have it both ways, smoking for most of the year and never getting busted.
