Lorde's 'Perfect Places' is luminous pop escapism
Lorde's latest single, "Perfect Places," is a good reminder to soak in the scene wherever you are right now and find your rhythm.
It starts out reminiscent of Pure Heroine, with a minimalist digital beat before a rush of textures fill in the landscape. She's excavating small moments to find big feelings, but now that she's a little older, she knows she's not always going to like what she finds. "What the fuck are perfect places, anyway?"
Lorde will play Governors Ball music festival in New York City this weekend. Her sophomore album, Melodrama, is out June 16.
