During a surprise concert in Melbourne, Madonna fans got an intimate look at the singer's personal life.

The singer, who performed at the Forum for a crowd of 1,500, dedicated multiple songs to her son Rocco. She's been in a heated custody battle with Rocco's father, ex-husband Guy Ritchie, since the 15-year-old left his mother's world tour in order to go live with his father in the UK.

At her Tears of a Clown-themed show, Madonna spoke about the ordeal, sharing her heartbreak.

"I probably could have enjoyed myself a little bit more on this tour if he hadn't disappeared so suddenly, and also if I knew when I would see him again," she said, before performing "Intervention."

Madonna continued to speak about her son, according to the BBC, admitting she's made mistakes.

"There's no end to the mistakes I've made," she said. "Everybody knows the saga of me and my son Rocco. It's not a fun story to tell or think about."

She chose the show's theme because clowns "symbolize heartbreak."

"There's something tragic about clowns because they try so hard to make you laugh, to make you smile," Madonna said.

She ended the show with performances of "The Tears of a Clown" and a ukulele version of "Holiday."
