Please admire this turtle who looks like a punk

No, the mohawk isn't from a rebellious phase it's going through.

The Mary River turtle's punk-like green mohawk might seem like a rebellious fashion choice, but that's just green algae.

It's an oddly fascinating creature to look at, but it's more importantly been added to a list of the world's most vulnerable reptiles, collated by the Zoological Society of London.

The Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) list "highlights and protects some of the most unique and most wonderful species on the planet," according to its website.

With an aesthetic like that, it's safe to say people are vibing on the metal AF turtle.

While the turtle's appearance has captured people's fascination, the reptile also does another weird thing: It breathes through its genitals. Really.

The glands in its reproductive organs allow it to breathe underwater, where it can remain submerged for up to 72 hours.

As per the name, you can only find the turtle in the Mary River in Queensland, Australia, but its numbers have been declining due to dam building and collection of eggs for the pet industry. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN.

Rock on, little guy.
