Miguel Ferrer, the actor known best for television roles on NCIS: Los Angeles and Crossing Jordan, has passed away from cancer at the age of 61, per Associated Press.

Ferrer, the son of Rosemary Clooney and Jose Ferrer, was home with his family when he passed.

“Today, NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member,” NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told People. “Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart. Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family. He will be greatly missed.”

Ferrer also appeared in Twin Peaks and filmed scenes for its upcoming revival.

Notably, he was friends in his youth with Carrie Fisher, who passed away at the end of 2016 and practiced lines with Ferrer for their Star Wars auditions.

"Miguel wasn't certain that he wanted to be an actor yet," Fisher wrote in her final memoir, The Princess Diarist. "But we were both intrigued enough that we continued exploring. Like me, he came from a show business background."

FIsher wrote that she first felt "the Force" while reading with Ferrer in the 1970s. He continued to act even after his diagnosis, with his condition written into NCIS.
