The greatest love stories are oft met with obstacles.

No greater odds have been stacked against a couple than the star-crossed lovers in the new game My Horse Prince: The story of a woman (you, the player) and her human-faced horse.

The choose-your-own-adventure style app comes from Japanese developers Usaya and follows a simple dating simulator framework, tried and tested by many successful games before it.

Content-wise however, it pushes a few fantastical boundaries, raising the question whether or not you should fall in love with your pet horse who also has a human face.

Needless to say that those who've taken the app for a test-ride are experiencing emotions ranging from confusion to bemused enthusiasm.

As with most random internet ideas, the people are entertained to say the least.

And the more users play the English version of the game which launched Dec 10., the more strange scenarios unfold.

Those with Photoshop skills were swift to offer alternatives to the Horse Prince's brand of human-horse hybrid.

If you've come this far, it's only fair to let you know that the app is available for for Android and iOs, so do with that information whatever you please.

Thankfully there's already an app walk-through on Youtube if that's your jam...
