VR takes 'Nashville' scene to the next level

As part of its push into the realm of VR, ABC is giving Nashville fans a chance to see the Bluebird Cafe in a way they've never seen before. 

Last week, the network began unveiling episodes of its "On the Record" digital series that featured three VR “In the Round” musical performances with cast meant to give fans a front row seat to the musical action, but Mashable has a sneak peek of another VR experience -- the show's first VR/broadcast crossover.

The scene -- featuring Layla (Aubrey Peeples) and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) -- was filmed in two ways, meant to be presented both in the show's regular format as well as VR.

The scene shows the characters in the middle of what the network billed as "a very telling moment." (You'll understand more when the full episode airs.)

Nashville may have been cancelled, but at least it's going out with an innovative bang.
