LOS ANGELES -- If you don't already have a streaming service at this point, what are you doing?

Now comes Legendary Digital Networks, which is launching a standalone membership video platform Alpha sometime later this year, president Adam Rymer said Friday. Alpha will be a joint venture from LDN’s leading digital studios, Chris Hardwick's Nerdist (home to shows like Because Science) and Felicia Day's Geek & Sundry (GnSLive on Twitch).

“Alpha is going to bring our community closer together through offering new types of immersive and interactive content and, when we realized that no existing services offered the technological capabilities needed, we decided to build it ourselves,” Rymer said in a statement.

Alpha will be home to an exclusive slate of shows from both channels, featuring a mix of live programming and returning fan favorites. It will also give viewers VIP event access, prizes and product discounts.

“I'm thrilled to have Geek and Sundry unified with Nerdist under this innovative new platform that provides an environment for fans to celebrate the things they love in a way not seen before,” Day said in a statement.

The list of streaming options for consumers continues to grow. Already, in the last year FullscreenFandangoLionsgate and Kevin HartComicCon and LionsgateDefy Media's ScreenJunkies Plus, and TIME Inc. have launched or announced plans for OTT offerings.

Alpha will be available on desktop and iOS, as well as popular OTT devices.
