Netflix drops planned Louis C.K. comedy special after 'disturbing' allegations
Following the accusations pointed at Louis C.K. by five women in the New York Times Thursday, Netflix has now dropped a planned standup special with the comedian that had yet to be produced.
“The allegations made by several women in The New York Times about Louis C.K.’s behavior are disturbing," a Netflix spokesperson told Mashable. "Louis's unprofessional and inappropriate behavior with female colleagues has led us to decide not to produce a second stand up special, as had been planned.”
Netflix currently has four Louis C.K. standup specials on streaming and previously streamed C.K.'s comedy series Louie.
In less than 24 hours since the Times broke its story, C.K. has been cut loose by his film distributor, by HBO, and now by Netflix. FX, the current home of C.K.-produced Better Things and original airing network of Louie, issued a statement that said the allegations were "under review" and that the network was "troubled" by what came to light in the Times.
The premiere of I Love You, Daddy was canceled mere hours before the Times story went live.
