Netflix signs deal to exclusively stream CW shows 8 days after season finales
LOS ANGELES -- The CW wants to make binge watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend a little bit easier.
The network announced Tuesday that it will offer full seasons of current CW shows -- as well as all future programs -- on Netflix beginning eight days after each show’s season finale.
The news of the new multi-year content licensing relationship confirms reports from earlier this year.

The CW, a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment, has had an existing output deal with both Netflix and Hulu. The deals were struck in 2011 and are both set to expire later this year.
With the renewed deal, Netflix users will be able to stream popular hits Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Vampire Diaries, The 100, iZombie, The Originals and Reign, and three new series Frequency, No Tomorrow and Riverdale.
“Netflix members in the US love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days after their season finales,” Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, said in a statement. “This is a great step forward with a valued network partner to give fans exactly what they want, when and how they want it.”
Scott Koondel, Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Content Licensing Officer at CBS Corporation, added: "This unique windowing will further extend the CW brand and fan base throughout the television season while providing better in-season exclusivity for our broadcast affiliates, MVPD partners and potential OTT opportunities. We look forward to continued success with Netflix on this partnership well into the future.”
