LONDON -- Who cried when the last installment of The Hobbit hit theatres? (Partly because the magic was finished, partly because it was so meh).

There's no shame in crying, friends, but now, we have news that shall bring forth tears of joy.

The magical realm of Middle-earth lives on through a new Tolkien tale: Beren and Lúthien.

In May 2017, HarperCollins will publish Beren and Lúthien on the 10th anniversary of the last Middle-earth title, The Children of Húrin.

Tolkein's son Christopher adapted the story from text found in The History of Middle-earth, a 12-volume compilation of material relating to the fiction of Tolkien which he edited.

The novel willl develop the story of two lovers Beren and Lúthien, which was originally written in 1917.

The original tale has been reworked in various forms, including poetry, and the new book will begin with Tolkien’s original text intact, according to the HarperCollins press release.

Presented as one coherent piece for the first time, Beren and Lúthien will include later texts that rework the tale and reveal previously discarded components of the story. It will also feature illustrations by Alan Lee, who also illustrated the centenary edition of The Lord of the Rings.
