PREORDER: The new Nintendo Switch OLED Model - Mario Red Edition will be released on Oct. 6, and it's available for pre-order now at the Nintendo online store. The new Mario-red Nintendo Switch OLED is the same price as the original OLED model and will cost you $349.99.

The Nintendo Switch OLED will soon get a Mario-themed makeover, just in time for the launch of the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder game.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Model - Mario Red Edition will be available at the Nintendo store starting on Oct. 6, and Mario fans can preorder the console now for $349.99. As you can probably guess from the product name, which is a mouthful, the new OLED model comes in Mario red.

To celebrate popular titles, Nintendo sometimes releases special-edition Switch consoles, like the recent Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch released in April 2023. This new OLED model features subtle — maybe a little too subtle — Mario accents.

From the front, there are no obvious signs that this is a Mario-themed Switch console. On the back, Nintendo has added a "silhouette design of Mario" leaping into the air. You can also find some hidden coins inside the console near the ports.

October will bring some big changes to the Mario universe, which recently enchanted a new generation of fans thanks to the popularity of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. A new side-scrolling Mario game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, will be released on Oct. 20, and it features some unique new online elements that encourage players to place nicely, which is sadly a rarity in the online world. The new game will also feature the debut of a new Mario voice actor.

Unlike the Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch, the new Mario edition doesn't cost more than the original white and neon blue/neon red OLED consoles. Mario fans can go ahead and visit the Nintendo store to preorder it now. If you have a kid who's newly obsessed with all things Mario, then this could be the perfect gift idea (yes, we're already thinking about holiday gift ideas).
