Lawyer: NYPD officer was sleepwalking when he broke into woman's apartment
A lawyer for a New York City Police Department officer said the officer was sleepwalking in 2014 when he allegedly broke into a woman's apartment at night, wearing nothing but underwear.
The officer, Eugene Donnelly, allegedly punched the woman repeatedly and then drank some milk from her kitchen before he left.

The incident occurred only hours after the officer received the NYPD's second-highest honor for arresting a teenager after a 2012 shootout in the Bronx.
The victim of the alleged assault scoffed at the lawyer's statement, according to The New York Daily News.
Donnelly's lawyer, Michael Marinaccio, said he believes his client is going through mental trouble.
“He doesn’t know how he got there, he was in his underwear, no shirt, bare feet — it doesn’t make sense,” Marinaccio said, according to The New York Post.
Marinaccio said the officer has had post-traumatic stress disorder ever since the 2012 shooting, and Donnelly said the shooting caused him to begin drinking again after a period of sobriety in his battle with alcoholism.
The officer is on modified duty, pending outcome of the case. He's set to be back in court on April 21.
