There are some jokes that get old quickly, while others get progressively funnier with each retelling.

For everyone except Conan O'Brien, Paul Rudd's Mac and Me joke falls firmly into the latter category.

In a nutshell, for the past 15 years, Rudd has been showing the same exact same clip from a 1988 alien adventure moviewhich has stunningly low ratings on both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoeswhenever Conan asks to see a glimpse of the latest thing he's working on.

The joke is now pretty much a meme in its own right — a very localised version of the classic Rickroll.

Rudd first pulled the prank back in 2004, when people were talking about the Friends finale.

Who knows how many sales of Mac and Me Paul Rudd is single-handedly responsible for at this point?
