A man has been arrested for allegedly hacking the iCloud account of Pippa Middleton -- sister of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge -- and stealing 3,000 of her private photographs.

The hack was first reported Friday by The Independent. On Saturday, London's Metropolitan Police arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of hacking Middleton's account. He was released on bail Sunday, according to NBC News.

Authorities arrested the suspect after The Sun reported that the hacker contacted the publication on Saturday under the pseudonym "Crafty Cockney." The newspaper said the hacker was attempting to sell illegally acquired images for a minimum of 50,000 pounds ($65,000).

The Sun was reportedly sent sample photos via an encrypted messaging service, which showed personal images of Middleton being fitted for her wedding dress for a ceremony set to be held in 2017. The hacker also claimed to have other photographs of Middleton's family, including naked images of her fiancé, James Matthews.

According to NBC News, the unidentified suspect was arrested on suspicion of a Computer Misuse Act offense but was released and must report to a late-November police date.

The Associated Press contributed reporting.
