Um, apparently Prince's favorite color was not purple
Most beliefs we harbor as children -- like thinking Santa Claus is real or that everyone is nice -- fall away as we get older. Go ahead and add what you assumed was Prince's favorite color to that list.
In an interview with the Evening Standard promoting an upcoming Prince exhibit at London's O2 Arena, the musician's sister Tyka Nelson shared a pretty shocking tidbit. While discussing one of the many artifacts on display at the "My Name Is Prince" exhibition, she revealed her brother's actual favorite color.
"The standout piece for me is his orange Cloud guitar," she said. "It is strange because people always associate the color purple with Prince, but his favorite color was actually orange."
Orange! Not purple. Orange.
Despite the purple guitars, the purple suits, the purple pianos, his 1984 film Purple Rain, and the purple Pantone shade name after the artist, this whole time it was the color orange that made Prince's heart sing.
