Moments after news broke that Prince passed away on Thursday, people flocked to auction and trading sites like eBay to cash in on Prince records and memorabilia.

And that's to be expected, really. When a celebrity dies, there's a newfound or returning interest in their life and life's work. But one desperate eBayer may be trying a little too hard.

For the low, low starting bid of $100, someone is attempting to sell rainwater that fell, "from the day Prince left us." Naturally, they're marketing this water as Purple Rain. The auction was first spotted by Maurie Sherman, who tweeted a photo of the auction.

According to the eBay description, the rainwater was collected outside Prince's Paisley Park studio where the singer died last week.

According to weather reports, it did indeed rain in Minneapolis on Thursday. However, good luck confirming that the water for sale is indeed rainwater from that day.

At the time of writing, there were zero bids on the rainwater, with more than two days left before the auction ends.

Unsurprisingly, the auction does not accept returns.
