How to groom your pubic hair without ending up in the ER

You would think pube-grooming would be an easy, breezy situation, but you would be absolutely wrong.

A new study has shown a rise in pubic hair grooming-related injuries for U.S. adults, some even resulting in emergency room visits. Who knew such a common primping practice could be so dangerous?

From the results of this study, it seems like a lot of people need to brush up on their bush-maintenance safety. So if you're worried about lacerations from razors and painful wax burns, take a look at these helpful tips and tricks.

They may seem obvious, but we can all use a gentle reminder.

1. Get a new razor.

Besides being dull, old razors are no doubt filled with bacteria. Infections are just waiting to happen. And an infection on your privates is no doubt significantly worse than an infection anywhere else on your body.

2. If using a razor, apply soap or shaving cream.

Listen, we get it. You're busy, you're trying to get this over with, and you're razor has those little lotion strips surrounding it so you'll be fineeeee. Well apparently not, so please take the time to get that nice lather going.

3. SLOW. DOWN.

As previously stated, we get that you're in a rush but slow and steady wins the race. If you're furiously clipping or shaving between your legs there's a chance you might catch some skin. Imagine having to get stitches down there...

4. Do not overheat your wax.

There's nothing else to say about this.

5. Exfoliate

Ok, so this might not directly stop a serious injury, but it will help prevent ingrown hairs which are a huge pain and can lead to infection.
