The new series will focus on The Punisher, and will star Jon Bernthal in the title role -- reprising a part he first played on Daredevil Season 2. Hannibal's Steve Lightfoot will serve as showrunner. News of the show was first reported by Entertainment Weekly and confirmed by Netflix on Friday.
The Punisher was first introduced in Frank Miller's Daredevil comics as a vengeful and violent vigilante – a darker shade of Daredevil and a warning of what Matt Murdock could become if he veered off his chosen path.
