Ryan Lochte betrays Michael Phelps and announces he's on Team Shark

Shark Week makes enemies out of friends.

Despite all those years swimming side-by-side and the countless moments accepting Olympic medals together, Ryan Lochte admits that he has no faith in his peer Michale Phelps, just a days before what might be Phelps' biggest race.

Lochte, a 12-time Olympic medalist, was brave enough to admit that he thinks his teammate (and at times, competitor) will lose on July 23 when Phelps competes against a great white shark in a confusing race that has been dubbed the "battle for ocean supremacy."

The race will kick off The Discovery Channel's annual celebration of the world's fiercest underwater predators: Shark Week.

TMZ caught up with Lochte on Thursday night and asked the swimmer (and new father) if he thought Phelps had a chance. His answer? "Hell no."

Whatever, Lochte. Maybe you've forgotten that Phelps has 23 Olympic medals. Sharks? They've got...zero.

We still have faith. Our loyalty cannot be broken. Team Phelps or bust.
