I'm sure there was a ton of great tech news this week, but if I'm being honest, Samsung's Galaxy Note7 nightmare eclipsed everything and that's exactly why we only talked about it on this week's MashTalk.

We wanted to have Entertainment Editor Josh Dickey dial in to explain why he's not giving up his Note7, but technical issues with Skype foiled our plans, so you'll just have to make do with me, Senior Tech Correspondent, Tech Editor Pete Pachal and semi-regular Deputy Tech Editor Damon Beres.

Before we jump into the the Cliff Notes for this week's explosive (sorry!) podcast, let me know on Twitter @raywongy if there are any Mashable editors or writers you want to appear on a future episode of MashTalk. I can't promise anything, but I can try to trick convince them into making a guest appearance by luring them in with candy.

On this very special episode, we gave a refresh on the entire Galaxy Note7 saga from overwhelmingly positive reviews, then explosions, then official recall, the replacement phones, replacements exploding and finally Samsung's official halting of production on the phone.

We dove into speculation on what exactly is wrong (Samsung still doesn't really know) with the phones and if there was a possibility that the quest for thinner designs contributed to the phone's blowing up.

Also, where does Samsung go from here? Is this it for the Note brand? Is its brand tarnished beyond repair? Will anyone ever buy a Samsung phone again? And what phone do you get after returning your Note7? (Here are our picks).
