The successor to Samsung's explosive Galaxy Note 7 is could be here soon.

Citing an unnamed source, Reuters reports Samsung plans to hold a launch event in New York City for the much-awaited Galaxy Note 8 smartphone in the second half of August. The report also says the Note 8 will have a curved screen that's is a bit larger than the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+. However, the Note 8 will have dual-camera system on the back, similar to camera systems on the iPhone 7 Plus or OnePlus 5 (the S8 and S8+ have a single rear camera)

The company was previously rumored to be releasing the device early to undercut Apple's announcements of the next iPhone, expected in September. Images of the device were also leaked in April. The rumored dual-camera system had also been previously reported.

Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI previously said he expects a strong year ahead from Samsung which is finally making a recovery from 2016, when the company was forced to pull the Galaxy Note 7 from the market due to multiple reports of the phones catching fire.
