Samsung wants to up your selfie game.

Two new investor notes from reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI give new insight into Samsung's 2017 performance, 9to5Google reports. Kuo predicts that the Galaxy Note 8, to release later this year, will be the company's first dual-camera smartphone. The adoption of the dual camera will be the "most important upgrade," Kuo writes.

The cameras will include an impressive 3x optical zoom (the optical zoom on the iPhone 7 Plus is 2x) and have 12-megapixel resolution for wide-angle images (13MP with the telephoto). The two lenses will also both include optical image stabilization. Kuo claims the "Note 8's dual-camera will be much better than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, and likely to match that of OLED iPhone," a reference the forthcoming iPhone (AKA the iPhone 8).

Kuo also suggests the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are selling well during the pre-order period. The feedback from consumers has been "better than expected," he says, which the analyst attributes to the "selling point in the full-screen design." The firm revised their predictions for the S8 sales, as the form factor "will be effective in attracting high-end users."

The analyst expects a strong year ahead from Samsung which is finally making a recovery from 2016, when the company was forced to pull the well-reviewed Galaxy Note 7 from the market due to multiple reports of the phones catching fire.

Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be testing dual selfie cameras for the next iPhone.
