It's time for quack-ulus class to get started at this school.

Thirteen years ago, a duck named Vanessa ran into a problem when she constructed a nest in the courtyard of Village Elementary in Hartland, Michigan. While Vanessa could easily fly in and out of the closed-off courtyard, the ducklings she hatched were stuck.

But the school was quite accommodating for its new duck student, and the teachers closed off a portion of the hallways to students, so Vanessa and her ducklings could trot outside and find water, reports Livingston Daily

So next year, Vanessa came back. And then again the next year. And then, every year.

The idea came from now-retired teacher Ruth Darrah, who told Livingston Daily that while Vanessa was initially a bit confused, she has the routine down now and trots through the school in a matter of minutes.

But just to make sure, the halls are taped off with construction paper to make sure no ball of duckling bird fuzz gets lost.
