Scott Baio denies Nicole Eggert's sexual abuse claim in new interview

He mostly stuck to the same defense he offered on Sunday in a Facebook Live post.

Scott Baio brought his Facebook Live story to Good Morning America.

In a Wednesday interview, the Charles in Charge star pushed back against former co-star Nicole Eggert's allegations that he molested her during their time together on the show, when she was still a minor. Much of what Baio said echoed a Facebook Live he posted on Sunday as Eggert's story started to surface.

Baio had little to say in response to the more detailed accusations, such as Eggert's account of what happened in the older actor's garage when she was just 14. More generally, he stuck to flat denials of any improper activity, pointing to the abundance of potential witnesses on set -- crew members, teachers, parental guardians -- that would have made such behavior impossible.

Just before the segment ended Baio shifted gears, saying "this has got to stop" because of the impact it's having on his family.

People are forgetting this, and it's very important how this is affecting me. Why somebody would come after me, my reputation, and stop me from doing something I've been doing since I was 9 years old. And more important than that is my wife and I have a 10-year-old daughter. My 10-year-old daughter doesn't need to be hearing about this from her friends at school, these false allegations. Her job is not to defend me. My job is to defend my daughter, her job is to be 10 years old. And that's why this has got to stop.
