The PlayStation 5 is sort of an enigma, shrouded in anticipation and excitement since its announcement. Many people couldn't even get their hands on a console years after its release. But now, PS5s are readily available at several retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.

If you haven't purchased a PS5 yet, now's the time to upgrade your gaming setup and get a free game in the process. For a limited time, Sony is offering a selection of free PS5 games (digital versions) to anyone who purchases a brand-new PS5 console between now and Oct. 20.

Popular games for this promotion include Demon's Souls, God of War: Ragnarök, The Last of Us: Part 1, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. These games are worth $49.99 to $69.99 each if purchased separately.

Here's how to get your free game:

  1. Purchase a new PS5 console from any retailer.

  2. Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Console Sharing and Offline Play and enable console sharing.

  3. Browse through the eligible free games in the PlayStation Store and choose one to download. Note: You'll need a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to redeem your game.

That's it! You'll now have a new PS5 game to enjoy, free of charge.

This offer is available to anyone who buys a PS5 between now and Oct. 20. If you purchased a PS5 after September 23, you're also eligible to get a free game.
