Sex and the City premiered 20 years ago Wednesday, and I have never watched a single episode.

"WHAT!???" I hear you screaming into a keyboard from across the internet. And "HOW??SDF" and "Omg but u must !!!11`" [Editor's note: I said all of these to you.]

To be fair, this show was hardly age-appropriate viewing for me when it premiered, but I'm not going to pursue that argument because most millennials still appear to have some base-level exposure to it. By the time I was old enough to appreciate it, there was already too much TV, and it became one of those shows that's "on the list" but never really makes it to viewing.

But right now, dear reader, that changes, as my editor ordered me to watch the pilot yesterday to commemorate the 20th anniversary. Please, join in my journey.

1. Carrie begins the episode with a story about a journalist who meets a successful man in New York City.

They meet "in typical New York fashion, at an art gallery." I gotta go to more galleries!

2. So boobs have always been HBO's thing, huh?

But this shadowy sex scene looks to be enjoyable for everyone involved.

3. This English girl is Australian.

4. Carrie's take on New York romance...still holds up.

5. I knew this show came with a dose of white lady privilege, but omg

How rich and successful were young people supposed to be 20 years ago?? I just had to Google how to spell Manolo Blahnik. I'm glad I aged into the workforce with Girls and Broad City.

6. There is so much talking to the camera.

This is like the ethics training video that H.R. made us all watch. [Editor's note: They do away with this after the first handful of episodes]

7. "What women really want is Alec Baldwin," says some man at a rock wall during this talking-head montage

do they tho? 1998!

8. He then asks why picky women don't just "marry a big, fat, tub of lard"

This guy better not be a regular cast member.

9. Am I Samantha?

10. Stanford!

One of the few things I know about this show is that Willie Garson is in it (I only just learned that his name is Stanford) and so is Cynthia Nixon and that they were both in the delightful 2005 indie film Little Manhattan, starring 12-year-old Josh Hutcherson as an Upper West Side kid experiencing his first crush. It's a masterpiece, please watch it, okay plug over.

11. Oh no Carrie, do not go back to Kurt.

12. What kind of trap is Carrie setting for this man?

A sexy one, I guess.

13. omg he went down on her and then she left for work when he said, "My turn"

Take THAT, DJ Khaled.

14. Skipper said he "has so much feeling" and Carrie asked if he's gay.

:(

15. Just remembered this scene from Jane the Virgin just because.

16. Stanford, Skipper, Capote Duncan?? These names tickle me.

17. Oh, I'm Miranda.

Skeptical, sassy, and just referred to by Carrie in a voiceover a "an increasingly hopeless situation." It's me?

18. "Did all men secretly want their women promiscuous and emotionally detached?"

Jury's still out, my dear.

19. "He's the next Donald Trump, except he's younger and much better looking."

:/

20. Samantha is referred to as having "deluded self-confidence" but I'm into it.

23. Shoutout to these women in their 30s having a "Friday night in Manhattan that crept towards dawn."

Last week I fell asleep on my couch at 9:44 p.m.!

24. Carrie missed the boat on the second avenue subway.

She would live a block away right now!

25. Mr. Big is already imposing his views on Carrie.

26. Relatable re: dating, also life

27. Do we like Mr. Big? I'm skeptical.

But that is very Miranda of me.

Anyway, gotta go – episode 2 is autoplaying.
