LOS ANGELES -- It's time for a toast to Mamrie Hart.

The YouTuber, known for her "You Deserve A Drink" video series, has been tapped to host the eighth annual Shorty Awards, Mashable has exclusively learned.

"When I first heard I was going to be the host, I blacked out," Hart joked. "To be fair, though, I had just drank 3 gin martinis and zero food. I kid! No, I think I was driving and found out on the phone which was on speaker because I am a safe driver."

Hart, who has about 1.15 million subscribers to her channel, is coming off a strong year.

Her book, also titled You Deserve a Drink, debuted on The New York Times paperback nonfiction bestseller list in 2015. She also stars in and wrote the upcoming Dirty Thirty film, alongside Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart.

"I just really want to celebrate the silly side of the Internet," Hart said. "I know there's an election happening, but I could spend the entire time talking solely about those animal or food memes ... Also, I'm waiting to hear about the [awards'] musical opening number budget."

The awards show, which will be held on April 11 in New York City and live-streamed on YouTube, honor top social media influencers including a mix of traditional and digital celebrities (#TeamInternet). There are 44 categories -- including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and more recently added sections for Persicope and YouNow.

"We know Mamrie will make it into a really fun show," Gregory Galant, co-Founder of The Shorty Awards and CEO of Muck Rack, told Mashable. "We really wanted someone who crosses [the] divide between both being an expert at digital — a digital-first star — but also someone that has a lot of comedic experience and can really own a room and tie a show together."
