SINGAPORE -- As proof that Ghostbusters is still relevant more than three decades since it first hit our big screens, hundreds of fans showed up at its Southeast Asia red carpet event on Sunday evening dressed as ghosts.

Not only did the sea of white-clad crowd make for a good photo op, the ghostly gathering at Marina Bay Sands to celebrate the cult classic reboot also helped set a new Guinness World Records title for the "Largest gathering of people people dressed as ghosts at a single venue."

According to Guinness World Records' adjudicator, Rishi Nath, a total of 263 people showed up with the iconic "no ghost" motif incorporated into their outfits.

“We are incredibly impressed by the fans’ dedication to Ghostbusters as well as their sense of adventure and fun," said Nath. "It’s official –- this is a fantastic achievement!”

Ghostbusters director, Paul Feig, who arrived at the event later with Melissa McCarthy, commented: "Seeing this many people get their ghost on and set a Guinness World Records title is a true testament to this amazing franchise that Dan, Harold and Ivan created 32 years ago."

Sony Pictures Entertainment, the distributor of the Ghostbusters reboot, put out a notice on June 2 calling for fans to dress according to theme for the event, which turned Singapore's skyline into a ghoulish green for just one night.
