In the '60s, they had Bob Dylan. In 2017, for one beautiful moment, Smash Mouth became our voice of protest.

"That's not good enough, you need to resign," the band wrote on Twitter after U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigation into the Trump administration's ties with Russian.

Finally, the people had found their champion.

But then the tweet was deleted. Did they lose their nerve? Did Trump goons stop by and ruffle their goatees?

The world will never know.

So the internet could only tweet tributes, wondering if another radio-friendly '90s pop rock band would take up the banner of the #TheResistance.

Now it looks like even more potentially damaging news about Sessions has emerged.

Hark. In our darkest hour, a new hero may emerge.

What say you, Chumbawamba? WHAT SAY YOU?
