Spider-Man love is all over Disney's big D23 Expo after the Sony split news
Spider-Man might be back in the hands of Sony, but Marvel stans stan on.
Disney's biennial D23 Expo happens to fall just days after the not-yet-entirely-official-but-still-real-enough news that Marvel and Sony have parted ways on their joint Spider-Man endeavor. And judging by the fans on social media, many are still healing from those still-fresh wounds.
One dedicated Spider-stan took the time to arrange a small memorial outside the Anaheim Convention Center, where D23 unfolds. It's a small gesture that's made a big splash among fans online.

Here's another, photographic look at that cute memorial:

Tom Holland was also at D23 Expo, to rep Disney Pixar's upcoming Onward, which he stars in alongside Chris Pratt. And while there's plenty to be said about that story of brotherly love and family, Holland couldn't help but pay tribute to his Marvel family -- complete with a tear-inducing Avengers: Endgame reference.

Jeff Goldblum is so broken up by the news, he straight-up malfunctioned.

This one... OK, this one's just creepy, and I'm afraid the clowns will come for me if I don't share it. "Far From Homies" is a great name, though.

Generally though, fans are best described as "distraught" over Spidey's potential exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they're hoping for a big weekend surprise -- which so far has not materialized.

That said, there is at least one fantastic example of Spider-Man action at D23 Expo.

It's worth mentioning before we go: no one knows at this point what will happen next. The Marvel/Sony split apparently isn't completely locked in yet and there's still a chance that Spidey will return to the MCU.
But for now, the Marvel-loving D23 Expo crowd is wrestling with some complicated feelings as they attend a convention that exists to hype all the Disney properties with images of Spidey seemingly plastered all over.
