The New York of Marvel’s Spider-Man is not really New York, but it still feels like the greatest city in the world. As Spider-Man swings around his domain, fighting like he’s running out of time, real world landmarks like Lincoln Center and Bethesda Terrace are clearly visible in their approximate locations on the game map.

One of these landmarks is Trinity Church in the Financial District, which is of course a real historic church finished in 1790 that has had its eyes on a lot of New York’s history. Trinity Church is also where Alexander Hamilton is buried with his wife Eliza at his side.

It would be easy for Marvel’s Spider-Man to skip the details of things like specific gravesites, but when it came to Hamilton the devs didn’t throw away their shot.

This is what the graveyard of Trinity Church looks like. One of those graves has a perfect ray of light shining on it…

For reference, this is what Alexander Hamilton’s grave looks like at the real Trinity Church.

Legacy? What is legacy? It’s winding up as an Easter Egg in a Spider-Man game 214 years after your death.
