Expect annual Star Wars games, starting with new 'Battlefront' in 2017
There's a new Star Wars: Battlefront game coming in 2017, Electronic Arts confirmed during its second-quarter earnings call on Tuesday.
More than that, you can expect a new Star Wars game to surface on an annual basis for the coming stretch of years, as EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed.

"We'll most likely have one Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years," he said.
"Next year we’ll see Star Wars: Battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before."
The 2015 Battlefront game focused exclusively on locations from the Original Trilogy, and developer DICE later confirmed that that focus would linger throughout all of the post-release add-ons for the game.
After the Battlefront follow-up, you can expect to start seeing some of the games from other EA studios surface.
"We also are working on a Star Wars action game that part of the Motive team [in Canada] is working on as well as part of the Visceral team and, that’s most likely [coming in 2018]."
There's no mention of the just-announced game from Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind Titanfall. Though with Titanfall 2 expected to arrive before the end of 2016, a 2019 release for the studio's Star Wars game is definitely within the realm of possibility.
Prior to the call, EA touted the 14 million copies of 2015's Battlefront game that have shipped so far. To be clear: "shipped" is much different than "sold." The former refers to the number of copies in retailer hands and the latter refers to how many copies were purchased.
That said, the early confirmation of a Battlefront follow-up and the number of copies shipped so far suggests a blockbuster performance for the 2015 game so far.
