In an effort to get people to stay inside and reduce community exposure to the coronavirus, a German software engineer has created a website with a simple, catchy message for the world: Stay the fuck home.

The site, staythefuckhome.com, contains a 12-point "Self-Quarantine Manifesto" that encourages best practices like not shaking hands, cancelling events, and avoiding public transport. It's been shared thousands of times on Twitter by people hashtagging #staythefuckhome. The SFW version #StayTheFHome was at the top of Twitter trends for a big chunk of Sunday morning.

Even the official travel site for Estonia got in on the movement, making sure people #staythefuckhome.

Staythefuckhome.com provides scientifically sourced information about COVID-19, the official name for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and explains why staying home is a functional way of stopping its spread:

By joining the movement and therefore limiting possibilities for new infections, you are not only protecting yourself, but you are also helping contain and limit the spread for everyone else, especially those who are at higher risk to suffer severe consequences from this virus.

Site founder Florian Reifschneider is also calling on Twitter to help him translate staythefuckhome.com into more language for greater global access. The site is currently available in 12 languages and has a safe-for-work mode that replaces its "fucks" with "Fs."

You heard the man. Stay the fuck home.
