Dr. Phil will tackle the case surrounding Making a Murderer subject Steven Avery during a new interview with the convicted killer, it was announced Thursday.

The daytime talk show will dedicate two episodes to Avery's case, airing Monday, Oct. 3 and Tuesday, Oct. 4. Avery will call in to the show from prison to talk to host Dr. Phil McGraw, who will also interview Avery's new fiancée, Lynn Hartman, in his studio.

Avery was convicted in 2007 for the murder of photographer, Teresa Halbach, and is currently serving life in prison at the Waupun Correctional Institute in Wisconsin. His case gained national attention thanks to Netflix's Emmy award-winning docuseries Making a Murderer, which explored issues and inconsistencies surrounding the case and how it was handled by local law enforcement, leading some to believe Avery was wrongly convicted. Avery previously served 18 years behind bars for a sexual assault he didn't commit before being exonerated, and was arrested for Halbach's murder after two years of freedom.

Hartman, a legal secretary, says she began writing to Avery earlier this year and just met him face to face two weeks ago.

Calling Hartman from prison, for the first time in a broadcast interview, Avery discussed topics with McGraw ranging from his pending nuptials and his infamy to his hope that actor Brad Pitt might portray him in a film about his life.

When asked about his nephew, Brendan Dassey, recently having his conviction overturned, Avery told McGraw, “The truth is coming out and sooner or later all the truth will come out.”

Avery is apparently feeling hopeful about his own sentence in the wake of Dassey's release; while discussing a potential wedding date, he told McGraw, “I want to wait until I’m out and I don’t think that’ll be too long; right around the corner."

Making a Murderer directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are currently working on new episodes of the series to follow recent developments in the case.
