A newlywed Iraqi journalist has shared his horrific experience of being caught in the attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport in a series of tweets.

Steven Nabil, who is based in New York, had left his wife in a cafe while he went to get food on a different floor. When he heard shots he ran toward her.

“Heard shots, ran fast toward her,” he tweeted. “Came down the stairs to see the court empty and the terrorist firing toward us.”
