'Stranger Things' invokes 'Alien' in chilling Season 2 poster
Stranger Things is the perfect Frankenstein-amalgam of classic '80s sci-fi films, and for Season 2, the show is really leaning into those influences. A new poster shared on the Stranger Things Twitter was creepy enough on its own, and it happens to be a direct reference to the 1979 film Alien.

Everything about this poster is terrifying; the Upside Down dead goop stuff in the shape of an egg (is it...regenerating?), the barren landscape of that mysterious realm which resembles a dead planet or post-apocalyptic earth. And then there's this:
In Alien, the strange life-form on this distant moon was regenerating, and it wasn't exactly friendly. The Stranger Things poster is Alien down to the font, and as both posters remind us, there will be screaming -- mostly from us as we watch.
Stranger Things 2 premieres Oct. 27 on Netflix.
