Did you know Stranger Things is set in and inspired by the 1980s? Well didja?? Perhaps Season 2's creepy homage posters are giving us a hint, though; the latest is inspired by the 1975 film Jaws, and an earlier design drew from 1979's Alien. Are the '70s the new '80s in Hawkins?

The poster debuted on Facebook with the intriguing hashtag "#StrangerThursdays," which may mean more revamped movie posters or other equally tantalizing tidbits leading up to the October release.

As with the Alien tribute, we see similarities down to the title font. Instead of a tagline, the Jaws poster references the original novel, then repeats and emphasizes the word "terrifying." It also happens to be part of the Spielberg oeuvre, a known influence for the Duffer brothers, whose first season was heavily inspired by E.T. the Extra Terrestrial.

On the poster, Stranger Things' demogorgon opens its mouth as wide as a killer shark, and we know what both are after -- human life. Don't go into the water unless you want to get eaten; don't enter the Upside Down unless you're prepared for another terrifying battle.

Stranger Things 2 premieres Oct. 27 on Netflix.
