The Euro 2016 football championship in France is off to an embarrassing start as it was revealed that their mascot shares its name with a sex toy.

People online looking to buy merchandise featuring Super Victor, a smiling boy with superpowers wearing a cape and the French team shirt, may find a sex toy available on Amazon and other sites instead.

This is what one of the possibilities for Super Victor looks like, if you really want to see it. It's definitely NSFW. (Warning: Graphic content.)

Super Victor the character, which was created in November 2014 at a France friendly, was named Super Victor after a social media poll, beating Driblou and Goalix.

European football's governing body, UEFA, said the name Super Victor was based on the idea of victory and references "the boy's super powers that he gained when he found the magic cape, boots and ball."

In response to the controversy, UEFA said: ”All we can say is that they [the sex aids] are not produced by UEFA.”

But to add fuel to the jokes, its official Facebook account posted a picture of Super Victor with the caption: "Who else isn't going to sleep tonight?"

Cheeky.
