Taylor Swift donates $5,000 to help fund a fan's funeral and medical expenses

Taylor Swift generously opened her wallet over the weekend to help the family of a fan who recently passed away.

The singer donated $5,000 to a GoFundMe page for 18-year-old Katie Beth Carter, who died in a car crash in Alabama according to People.

In an screenshot Carter's sister Kimi posted to Instagram, the singer penned a note to the crowdfunding page created by family.

"No words could express how sorry I am for your loss," Swift wrote. "I know that you will keep Katie's memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family."

The family is raising $40,000 to aid the high expenses in relation to the accident. At time of publication, the family is just under $5,000 short of their goal.

"I cannot believe this at all...thank you so much, Taylor...me and my sister are smiling so hard," Kimi posted.
