Ted Cruz loves butter cows, but does he love metal?

Author Michael Boulerice proposed in a Facebook post Tuesday that Cruz may be -- nay, that he is -- Michael Sweet, the lead singer of Christian metal band Stryper.

Michael Sweet, the supposed Stryper lead singer who is currently preparing to go on tour, initially responded to the allegations with a playful tweet. This could also be construed as a carefully staged effort to mask the truth.

A few days later, Sweet tweeted to Cruz's account, apologizing for the escalating conspiracy. It must be hard to manage two Twitter accounts at once, huh?

We eagerly await Cruz's cover of "To Hell With the Devil."
