Here's a first look at Kylo Ren and Rey's costumes from 'The Last Jedi' and OMG

Let's overanalyze!

Okay, everybody CALM DOWN, I don't want us all to freak out all at once but it seems we just got our first look at what Kylo Ren and Rey look like in the upcoming The Last Jedi thanks to, of all things, a video game.

On a promotional page for the upcoming Battlefront 2 (which looks all kinds of badass), GameStop Ireland drops a look at Ren and Rey in a slide that promotes a Last Jedi-theme expansion pack for pre-orders of the game.

And, wouldn't you know it, there are the pair of dueling lightsaber-wielders in what are described as "production stills" from The Last Jedi (to differentiate from in-game images).

Okay, time for a closer look, first at Rey.

ENHANCE!

Okay, so it's a bit blurry but, come on, Rey looks Jedi-as-HELL here. In the trailer, the only looks we get at Rey seem to be of her in the clothes she wore at the close of The Force Awakens.

But her new samurai-like get-up looks pretty Jedi-esque, not entirely dissimilar from Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor in The Phantom Menace and, later, McGregor and Hayden Christensen.

If Rey's pose looks a bit familiar, it's because it's one we've seen, albeit in extremely-cropped form, elsewhere.

Since Rey is already seen on both The Last Jedi poster and trailer footage in her old clothes (gross), we know this outfit must come at a later point in time, probably after training with Luke. Clothes are but one symbol of a Jedi's evolution in the Star Wars saga: Luke's costume changed with his journey throughout the original trilogy and Anakin's in the prequel trilogy.

Oh, and those stupid, god-awful little side rattails we saw in the prequels. But there doesn't appear to be one involved with Rey's new hair style which has already received scrutiny.

What I'm trying to say is that clearly Rey is the last Jedi until Mara Jade comes along in Episode IX.

As for Kylo Ren, there's not much different here nor would you expect it to be. Whereas Luke's costume changed with his journey throughout the original trilogy and Anakin's in the prequel trilogy, Darth Vader's badass bad guy costume never changed.

There's no reason to expect much difference with Kylo, unless you count the moving scar. There's no helmet, granted, but he went helmetless at times in The Force Awakens, too.

Cape? Check. Red cross lightsaber? Check. Brooding face? Check.

Now, you might be asking, "Aren't you guys being a little too obsessive here?"

To which I answer: with Star Wars, there's no such thing as "too obsessive," people, because this is Star Wars and I will fight you if think otherwise.

Now make with a shot of Rey's footwear, Kathleen Kennedy, so I can be sure to preorder a pair in the correct size.
