The Weeknd and Bella Hadid have split up

No, this is not a false alarm.

Unfortunately there's another stab to 2016's heart, albeit a little less painful than post-election protests, Brangelina anxiety and Hiddleswift's demise.

Bella Hadid and The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) have broken up, according to People. No, this isn't a false alarm.

“Their schedules have been too hard to coordinate and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album,” People's source shared with the magazine. He announced a massive world tour in support of his forthcoming album, Starboy.

"They still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends," the source said.

Hadid, 20, and Tesfaye, 26, were first linked in 2015 after Hadid declined his invitation to be in official artwork for his album Beauty Behind The Madness.

"It’s definitely refreshing to find someone who’s as passionate about their career as I am about mine," he told Vanity Fair in 2015.

In September 2015, the couple stepped out publicly for the first time, and since have supported each other at award ceremonies and fashion shows across the country.

The two were sharing images on Instagram of a trip in Japan together a little over a month ago.

If the report is true, things might get a little awkward in December—Tesfaye will be performing at the 2016 Victoria Secret Fashion Show, where Hadid will be strutting down the runway.

Mashable has reached out for comment from Tesfaye's representatives and will update this post accordingly.

And if you feel like mourning, here's the video for "In The Night" that Hadid starred in. Don't be afraid to hold back the tears, teens.
