Tinder is coming to Apple TV -- your family room is no longer safe

Just don't forget to log out.

If spending the holiday season single weren't already stressful enough, Tinder and Apple are joining forces to bring swiping for dates to the family room.

The dating service just announced the launch of its app on Apple TV, marking its first departure from mobile devices.

The big screen service provides only the bare bones dating experience — all you can do is swipe using the Apple TV remote's trackpad. To use the app, TV daters must already have an active Tinder account, and there's no way to edit profiles or chat with matches on the big screen. The more personal aspects of the service remain tied to users' phones.

That limited set of features might actually be a blessing — the potential ramifications of leaving a profile open on a family TV are terrifying. Just imagine a mischievous sibling with access to your dating profile and time to kill. There's no way you make it out of that one looking good.

For some very close-knit clans, Tindering as a family could turn into the season's hot new game night activity. But for too many others, it will just give grandma an even bigger excuse to ask why they're still single over and over again.

Above all else, make sure to always remember to log out of your profile on the TV — that way, grandma never has the chance to take control of the remote and start swiping.
