Rescuers work tirelessly to save an elephant trapped in a well
A trapped elephant was able to escape a well in Kenya thanks to some friendly conservationists.
On March 6, the bull elephant found itself stuck in a pit in Kenya's Northern Rangelands Trust conservancy. Volunteers from the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Northern Rangelands Trust, Save the Elephants and several community members banded together to help the animal out.

When the team discovered it, the poor animal was dehydrated from spending the night in the mud.
Batian Craig, a representative from Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, posted a video on Facebook and Instagram of the rescue and the elephant receiving water from a volunteer on Facebook.
Volunteers worked hard to get the elephant out of the well. First, rescuers gave it some water while another team worked tirelessly to dig it free.
The rescue took about four hours, using a little over 26 gallons (100 liters) of water and three vehicles to help the animal out of the pit.
Craig wrote on Instagram that the animal needed to be tranquilized for safety.
"Once two thirds of the way out he was darted to allow us to remove all the straps that we had attached to him," he said.
The straps, he said, were to help the animal to its feet.
"Immediately after this picture was taken he removed this last rope using his trunk," Craig wrote on Instagram.
Craig also mentions in the post that another volunteer, Jules Binks, spotted the elephant later, doing very well after its rescue.
