Eat your heart out, foodies.

Twitter has enlisted 17 top chefs and influencers to make food-focused original content within the company's platform in what looks like a full-on embrace of the Internet's love of #foodporn.

Called the "Twitter Food Council," the group includes a variety of popular celebrity chefs including Giada De Laurentiis and Alex Guarnaschelli. They will tweet, Vine and Periscope original food content every day, as well as participate in special events online and in the real world, testing new products or bringing followers into events.

Guarnaschelli is head of the council and spoke with Mashable about what she hopes the experience is like.

"We want to make food conversations and connections easy for anyone on Twitter" said Guarnaschelli. "No matter where people are in the world, we can all connect about food through Tweets."

Food has emerged as one of the most social media-friendly topics, with many chefs having huge followings and media companies seeing plenty of engagement for recipe videos.

Adding original food content from well-known chefs and personalities adds on Twitter's other recent efforts to bring high-end video to its users. Twitter is streaming the Republican and Democrat conventions, and will soon be streaming NFL football games.

A spokesperson for Twitter said the company is not paying chefs to participate and is not selling ads around the content.

Janice Morris, head of lifestyle media partnerships at Twitter, said she thought the Food Council would be a way to engage the food community that already exists on Twitter.

"Every day, we see chefs and food lovers go on Twitter to share their experiences with food and food culture through Tweets" said Morris, speaking with Mashable. "Twitter is global, real time and conversational and can connect the entire food community through Tweets. It’s also really visual, so it’s a perfect platform to share a photo or video to a global audience, and also an excellent place to have a conversation about food."

Twitter users looking to engage with the council can use the official hashtag, #FoodFlock to get involved.
