Uber is expanding its ride-sharing service with a brand new app that hopes to make life easier for truck drivers.

The company launched Uber Freight on Thursday, and as you probably guessed, it's essentially Uber, but for trucking.

In a blog post, Uber detailed that by matching trucking companies with loads to haul, the free app's mission is to "empower truck drivers and small trucking companies to run and grow their business."

With the push of a few buttons, the app makes it simpler and faster to for drivers find and book freight, eliminating the usual and time consuming hassle of countless phone calls.

Uber writes that in addition to a more stress-free booking process, one of the main perks of using the app will be faster payments. "When trucking companies get paid, they typically have to wait 30 days or longer, enough time to sink a small business," the blog post states. "Uber Freight is committed to paying within a few days, fee-free, for every single load."

The company even promises to pay "accessorial rates" for any unforeseeable circumstances that inhibit the driver's job, such as detentions, layovers, or truck orders not used.
