VMAs 2016: And the nominees are...

The fight for the Moonman is officially on.

MTV has officially announced the nominees for the 2016 Video Music Awards, and to the surprise of no one who experienced the beautiful spectacle that is Lemonade, Beyoncé leads the pack with a career-best 11 nominations. Close behind is Adele with eight.

Beyoncé's "Formation" video and Adele's "Hello" will face off against Drake's meme-producing "Hotline Bling," Justin Bieber's "Sorry" and Kanye West's controversial "Famous" for the most coveted award of the night, Video of the Year.

Fans can cast their votes now at vma.mtv.com. Beginning on August 15, you'll be able to cast your vote for Best New Artist via Facebook messenger.

The Video Music Awards will air live Madison Square Garden on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
