America: where Rivers Cuomo can freely bite his fingernails and NASA asks Weezer to write a patriotic song.

"I Love the USA" was commissioned by NASA and Apple to hype up the Juno Mission, an uncrewed spacecraft set to reach Jupiter's orbit on July 4 that could use some good press

Weezer explores dream pop territory on the hyper-positive track, "eff yeah, this place is great!" declares Cuomo before flexing his First Amendment right and altering the message, "fuck yeah, this place is great!"

"We were on tour abroad, and it got me thinking a lot about America, which lead to me write 'I Love The USA.'" explains Cuomo on the the band's website,  "When Apple and NASA asked us to be involved with Juno’s historic landing on July 4, this song seemed like the perfect fit."

Apparently, Cuomo missed America's unparalleled selection of franchises while globe trotting. "Stopped at Coffee Bean," he sings. "This place is like a dream."

The song is an iTunes and Apple music exclusive.

Miley Cyrus, who thinks she has a Jupiter tattoo, will probably love it. "Party in the USA" & "I Love the USA" mashup, anyone?

Update, June 30, 2015 3:29 PM ET:

"I Love the USA" is actually part of a larger initiative with Apple Music and NASA called Destination: Jupiter that includes original songs and a short film.

(No funds were exchanged between NASA and Apple for this collaboration, and Apple is charging to download the tracks in the iTunes story.)

Destination: Jupiter also includes music by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Brad Paisley, Corinne Bailey Rae, GZA the Genius, Jim James, Quin and Zoë.

Sorry, Train. Not this time.
